In addition to managing the agency as its President, John E. Backe also brings insight from a background deep in media, publishing and financial management experience. He won an Ozzie Award from Folio Magazine for the best design and layout of any regional magazine in the country and transformed Gulfshore Life from a circulation of 15,000 into one of eight publications with combined circulation of over one million. John understands the relationship of content and design to consumer behavior. Over the course of his career, he has overseen marketing and promotions for the FOX affiliate in Lexington, Kentucky and helped launch Procter & Gambles products Liquid Tide and Cascade as an Account Executive at Saatchi & Saatchi. As an advocate of literacy training, John was instrumental in making a $100,000 grant from Backe Communications to the Gesu School in 1999 to support the schools writing program, library, and language arts program. John accomplished this through the acquisition of computers for their computer lab, plus helping to fund the attendance of Gesu students at the ESF summer camps.
