Wissahickon Spring Water, Philadelphia Zoo and Omnicare Clinical Research Become Agency Clients

May 2006

Backe Communications has landed three major new accounts in a second quarter surge of new business. The announcement was made by John Backe, President of the Ardmore-based advertising and interactive agency. Backe Communications is one of the top integrated marketing communications agencies in the Philadelphia market.

On the consumer side, Backe has been named agency of record for Wissahickon Spring Water. Headquartered in northeast Philadelphia, Wissahickon is the largest independently- owned producer and distributor of bottled spring water in the country. After extensive agency reviews, Wissahickon chose Backe Communications to conduct brand assessments and to develop new advertising and marketing programs to launch in the third quarter.

Backe has also been chosen by Omnicare Clinical Research to conduct an extensive brand analysis and to develop a new business-to-business marketing communications strategy. Based in King of Prussia, Omnicare is a leading worldwide clinical research organization with major pharmaceutical clients and operations in over 20 countries. It is the clinical research division of Omnicare, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of pharmaceutical services to long term care facilities. The agency has created a new positioning strategy for Omnicare Clinical Research, which is captured in its new tagline, “People who really care. In a company where it really matters.”

The Philadelphia Zoo has chosen Backe Interactive, the web division of Backe Communications, to assume development and maintenance duties for the Zoo’s website located at www.philly.zoo.org. The initial assignment is to migrate the Zoo’s legacy website to a new hosting environment and then to assist the Zoo’s webmaster in maintaining and enhancing the site. Future plans call for the introduction of automated online ticketing and event registration, improved e-commerce capabilities and new online marketing tactics to boost Zoo traffic. Started in 1995, Backe Interactive was the first interactive division of an advertising agency in the Philadelphia region. Its clients today include GlaxoSmithKline, Sungard and Arcadia University.

Backe Communications is one of the region’s top integrated marketing agencies, specializing in the seamless delivery of both traditional and digital creative solutions. Backe Interactive was the very first full-service interactive group formed by an area brand marketing communications agency, and remains one of the largest. Backe provides strategic analysis, brand development, online marketing, and web application design and programming. Specialities include e-Commerce development and the implementation of advanced Content Management Systems. The agency also offers Backe Insight®, a proprietary online consumer research tool that allows clients to make informed strategic brand decisions based on real-time customer feedback.

Backe Communications’ clients include global leaders like GlaxoSmithKline, Susquehanna International Group and Portescap, a Danaher Motion company.
